OK, I'll admit it.
There are times that even I question my sanity.
And before today's run was one of them.
For whatever reason, I texted my friend Chris after I saw him post he was going to do a 14-mile trail run ... beginning at 4:30 a.m. ... after it rained for nearly 24 hours straight (while it seemed like it did) ... in 32-degree weather.
Not going to lie, I was concerned about this run happening yesterday afternoon/evening as it poured the rain all day and the forecast called for the potential of ice on the roads. Fortunately, the rain pretty much stopped around 8 or 9 p.m. and the roads were fine this morning.

Oops! I Did It Again
![]() |
| Road rash is pretty, isn't it? |
Last time I was marathon training, I hit a little 'bump' on the trial. (OK, it was a root.) So, I was really wanting to avoid a situation like that again.
But yesterday, I took a 'trip' down memory lane.
Set out with the plan to run 5 miles and finish at the rec center to do a spin session before running the mile-plus way home. It was a simple, easy plan. What could possibly go wrong you say?
Well, how about another fall?
Yes, I took another tumble. This time, though, it was on the sidewalk.

My Road to Becoming a Half Fanatic
A few months ago, my lovely bride asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I'm not one who wants for much. I mean, I have a loving family, a roof over my head, food on my table and am healthy enough to run. What more does a guy need?
Yet, there was one thing I wanted. Money for membership in Half Fanatics!
Yet, there was one thing I wanted. Money for membership in Half Fanatics!
Me: "It's a running club for people who half marathons and run so many during a certain about of time. With the three I'll be running in seven weeks, I'll qualify."
My Bride: "I think you're fanatical already."
My bride is wonderfully supportive of my running, but I know she thinks I'm nuts when I start rambling about running and all the races and distances I want to run. But she still loves me anyway. :)
Ever since I learned of the existence of the Half Fanatics, I longed to become one. I NEEDED to be one.

I Just Wanna Run
OK, it's official. I've got the running bug.
AND I LOVE IT!
It's all I want to do anymore. I'm constantly checking the hourly weather forecast to see when I can get a run dry without having to deal with any rain or foul weather.
